$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install gcc-avr 

gcc-avr is installed in your system.

Make ensure the gcc-avr package were installed using the commands given below,

$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep gcc-avr *

You will get with gcc-avr package name, version, architecture and description in a table

gcc-avr package basic information:
